Dr Farooq Shah
Biography
Dr Farooq Shah is an experienced researcher with diverse experience of biocontrol of insect pests and diseases of crop plants. He is one of the few researchers with experience of working in the fundamental, applied and interface research. As part of his PhD, Dr Shah’s research focussed on elucidating underlying mechanisms of attenuation of virulence in insect pathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae. He identified physiological and molecular markers as key virulence indicators and quality control markers for monitoring the virulence of entomopathogenic fungi. He has published over 20 research papers in high impact journals, contributed in a book chapter. Currently, Dr Shah is developing environmentally safe technologies for crop production & protection with particular focus on using artificial intelligence and smart technologies for sustainable food production.

Dr Shah has been playing a central role in establishing academic networks and knowledge exchange between UK and Pakistan based academia. His experience of transnational education and academic partnerships has helped in:
