Food topic area is led by Dr Khalid Mahmood who is the brains and driving force behind the SAWIE App. SAWiE is offering data-driven solutions to farmers to better manage their farms independently. The Sawie solutions are empowered by remote sensing tools which include the Earth Observation and ground-based sensors are adopted to meet the needs of all farm types, especially smallholder farms. It will help to improve crop productivity, yield and gain better returns on investment.
UPSIGN's food team seeks to facilitate coherence and assist with the delivery of impact from current the Global challenges Research Fund (GCRF) investments in Pakistan through engaging with key stakeholders including: decision makers, industry and communities. The focus is to deliver Sustainable Food Systems to face and withstand climate change.
UPSIGN's FOCUS ON AGRICULTURE & NUTRITION:

Crop Breeding for resilience and enhanced nutritional quality using agronomic and genetic approaches.

Encouraging the movement of nutrients to humans and livestock diets.
